Changing the Literary World, ONE Word at a Time!
WELCOME to WRITE ON! . . .
I've been writing since the age of five, and it's the only thing, in life, that truly makes me 100% happy. Words for me are so meaningful, and I love to play with them. It's especially fun to create characters and make them do whatever it is my heart desires. Writing is the only outlet that gives me full satisfaction because I am always in control and I own that power.
The two books I've written thus far, Mello & June, a Musical Romance Soundtrack Novel, comes from personal relationships I had during my single life. Many people have asked what is the 'soundtrack' part of the book, and that comes from my love for music which runs a close first to my all-time favorite passion for writing. When I wrote M&J, it was so easy because I combined my love of music with my love of writing and voila a story was born. It was a long birth because I had written the outline for the story 20 years ago, but it wasn't until 2007 when I actually wrote it. In December of 2009, my lifelong dream became a reality.
Silent Knight took a 360 degree turn. This story couldn't be further apart from M&J. Right as I began to market and promote M&J, I immediately delved into Silent Knight. I wanted to do a story during my favorite era, the 70s, and I wanted to write about the many experiences of childhood friends I met, while growing up in the projects. As easy as it was for me to write M&J, which took four months, it took an entire year for me to complete Silent Knight. This story was so complex in that I had challenged myself to write about six different characters, all living, breathing, and thinking differently. It can be hard to control one character, but in my infinite wisdom, I decided to do six. And, I must admit, it paid off because I've been receiving some really great reviews, and I couldn't be more thrilled about that.
On Facebook, I always remind my fans and friends to be very careful of the words they speak. In fact, on my fan page of Mello & June, my short bio states simply this, "I've learned to respect the power of words, this is why I'm an author!" And that, ladies and gentlemen is the sole truth. If only everyone would take words more seriously, but often, we as human beings fall prey to using words in the most detrimental way we can~~to hurt others. I, too, have been guilty of this, but I try to be more aware of what I'm about to say to a person before the words ever leave my mouth.
If you haven't read any of my books, you really are missing out on some great entertainment. Many tell me my books read like movies and they can picture them so vividly in their mind. That is one of my specialties~~bringing on the drama, and keeping the action going. Love, Peace and Write On!

ABOUT SILENT KNIGHT. . .
CLARENCE KNIGHT, a film maker, doing it big out in Hollywood. He's worked with such greats as Will Smith and Spike Lee. Clarence's best friend, Reggie Dunn, has summoned Clarence to come back home because Reggie's father is dying. After all, Mr. Dunn played an intricate part in Clarence's upbringing.
Feeling apprehensive returning to his old stomping grounds of Woodland Heights, the Projects, he unwillingly does it anyway. Once he arrives, he discovers that his old hood isn't quite the way it used to be when he and his family moved there 20 years ago.
While visiting with his best friend and catching up on old times, Clarence figured he could make the best of the trip by surprising his friend with a camera crew that is in the process of making a documentary about their lives in Woodland Heights, the way it was in the 70s! However, Clarence also has another reason for wanting to do the documentary, which is finding out what happened to a kid named Marcus Paige they used to hang with. As the camera crew starts interviewing the people of Woodland Heights, it is becoming clear that there are some deep dark secrets that his old neighborhood possessed, and some extremely harsh realities Clarence will have to face.
After all is revealed, will Clarence still remain friends with his old crew, and better yet, will what Clarence learns keep him Silent forever?!

"Silent Knight was nothing like Mello and June, but still carried the same excitement and addiction of "what's next?" Kimberly Ranee Hicks truly shows her talent as a writer and artist in Silent Knight~~kept me laughing and turning pages! You can't predict the ending! This book is in a class all by itself. Keep them coming, Kim, you have converted me to a novel reader. Yours at least!" ~~ Iyana Tennon of Virtuous Academy and Virtuous Visions Photography
"Don't get me wrong, Mello & June was a good read, but what I loved about Silent Knight is that Kim's writing has matured to a whole 'nother level, if you will. Much stronger and the storyline was captivating. If you haven't read this book yet, you are truly missing out on a great read. I couldn't put this book down. I read it in like 3 days, so that's a good book!" ~~ K. Ellis
"Growing up in the hood, I could identify with Clarence a whole lot. The projects is a rough area to grow up in no matter what city you live in, and I loved the 70s vibe. This book took me back to much better days, and this story was deeeep! Kim did a great job with this because trust me, I'm like WHOA, this is a good mystery. Kept me turning pages." ~~ George B.
"I don't want to give what the mysteries are about in Woodland Heights, but I have to say this story touched me tremendously because I know all too well the pain of what Clarence went through cause I too have gone through a similar thing, so when I read this, it was funny to read the children's stories and painful at the same time. The ending really brought it all home for me. I have to admit, I didn't read Mello & June, but after reading Kim's second novel, I'm definitely going to read her first. Excellent read, and thank you for speaking for us!" ~~ Trevor M.
"OMG, let me tell you, if you want laughter, tears, joy and pain, this mystery is for you. Girlfriend wrote the hell out of this story, and I must say, I wasn't sure where Kim was going with this, but after I got into it, OMG, my jaw dropped. This is a great story, and her writing is so much stronger this time around. I read M&J and I can't wait to read her third novel. If you haven't been following Kim's books, you are missing out on a talented sista!" ~~ Christine Fields
